The SWIM base is set on a 5 acre block of land located on the eastern outskirts of Honiara, about 12 km from the centre of town and 4km from the international airport. Water is from rain catchment (for drinking) and a bore hole (for everything else). The houses are served with 240V electricity, generated onsite through solar panels and supplemented by generator.
There are seven houses on the base where the long term team members live and do much of their day to day work.
The Conference Centre and Transit House can comfortably accommodate 34 people. Accommodation is bunk style. A large central area holds the common room and dining area as well as a kitchen.
There is a large leaf meeting house available for conferences and workshops, with extra facilities available. There are plenty of quiet spaces on the base for small group discussions. Grass and garden areas allow for recreation and the beach is a 20 minute walk away.
The Conference Centre and Transit House is available for short term mission teams as well as retreats, conferences and workshops. Rates are very reasonable. Self-catering is usually required. For accommodation bookings, rates or questions, please contact us.
